Position:
Associate professor of Demography / Researcher at the Centre for Regional Development and Planning (CEDEPLAR), Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil. 

I am a founding member of the Research Group “Comparative Analysis on International Migration and Displacement in the Americas” [CAMINAR], a member of the Study Group on Population, Economy and the Environment [EPOPEA/UFMG] and of the Observatory of International Migration of the State of Minas Gerais [OBMinas]. I previously worked as a professor in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmess at the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) and the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology at Newcastle University (UK). I was a Visiting Research Fellow at the School of Geography, Queen Mary University of London (2023-2024). 

I am a Research Fellow from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (PQ2/CNPq).

I am an Associate Editor of the Journal Comparative Migration Studies (CMS) and the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies (JEMS). 

Above all, I am Gabo’s mother (a 10 year-old Colombian-Brazilian/Mineiro-Cearense) #maternidadenolattes
